Back in my role of entertainment organiser ~ June 2017

When I hear somebody sigh, ‘Life is hard,’
I am always tempted to ask, ‘Compared to what?’

Thursday 1st June 2017

It was card making at CWA this morning. I made three cards which I am happy with. Afterwards BJ and I had a walk up to the cheap shop and the material shop. We were very successful with our purchases. In the afternoon Pete Mate and I went into Yeppoon. He had a dental appointment and I wanted to go to Woollies. We were home in time to get ready for happy hour which was a special one to celebrate Lorna’s birthday. A good time was had by all, especially the birthday girl.

Friday 2nd June 2017

It was washing and cleaning day today. The sun shone and everything dried beautifully. Happy Hour was a very noisy affair plus it was a long one.

Saturday 3rd June 2017

Sue and I went into Yeppoon to see a spiritual lady. It was a very pleasant time, so calming and peaceful. We then went for lunch followed by a little shopping.

Sunday 4th June 2017

Pete Mate and I had a huge sort out under the annex and the car. We now have a sitting area instead of a junk yard. It was lovely to welcome Maggie and Sandy back to the park.

Monday 5th June 2017

We went into Yeppoon to fill Billy’s fuel tank, take him through the carwash and vac the inside. We also did a bit of shopping and then it was a rush to get home and have some lunch. I then took BJ up to Jill’s house for the afternoon. We were joined by Trish, Maureen and Maggie; it was a good afternoon. I finished my funny face sewing project which was started last year. Well actually I did a few stitches and Trish did the rest.

Tuesday 6th June 2017

I worked all day on the accounts and event-organising. The day went well and I was pleased with what I had achieved.

Wednesday 7th June 2017

I had coffee with Iris in the morning and then in the afternoon went to the hairdressers for a much needed cut. I had a few things to do in the village and once that was done I went home for a short rest before happy hour. It was lovely to see Cathy and Phil plus Jock back in the park.

Thursday 8th June 2017

I overdid the walking yesterday and now am paying the price. BJ picked me up and we had a lovely morning at the CWA. In the afternoon I sat outside the ’van knitting and listening to a book I have downloaded from the library.
It is lovely and sunny but there is a chilly wind and eventually I gave up and came inside. We enjoyed a lovely happy hour at Jill and Sandy’s. There was quite a crowd and a good time was had by all. It did get quite cold and the sand flies were out and about.

Friday 9th June 2017

Today was a little fraught as it was so painful to do anything. We went to the Bowling Club for tea which was very pleasant and I am glad I made the effort to go. Pete Mate and Roger really enjoyed themselves!

Saturday 10th June 2017

The rest I had yesterday paid off and I am firing on all cylinders today. I started the day by going to do the shopping early. I think it is the best time to shop, plenty of parking and no queues at the checkout. Once home and breakfast out of the way, I started on the washing and cleaning. This took quite a while because of all the interruptions. I had a chat with Nic and Jamie on Skype in the afternoon and then instead of going to happy hour I chatted to my brother and two sisters on Skype. In between all of this I cut the ribbons for the craft workshop I am running in the park.

Sunday 11th June 2017

A mixed day of reading, knitting and relaxing. I tried out a new recipe for brunch which was quite nice.

Monday 12th June 2017

I went over to Jill’s for a cup of tea and a chat which was lovely. In the afternoon I tried to get back to my knitting but never really got around to it. Happy Hour was very pleasant.

Tuesday 13th June 2017

I spent the whole day sitting outside the caravan making cards. It went very well and I was pleased with the results. I could really do with a craft room.

Wednesday 14th June 2017

Pete Mate and I had doctor’s appointments which went quite well. We picked up our scripts from the pharmacy and needed a truck to bring it all home! We then went into Yeppoon to do some shopping for tomorrow. Once home we relaxed before happy hour.

Thursday 15th June 2017

It was card making in the morning and then in the afternoon, with the help of BJ and Cathy, the sausage sizzle was organised. John and Phil started cooking at 5.00pm as there were so many sausages and onions to cook. It was a good turnout and a good evening was had by all. Our resident musicians provided the entertainment whilst the sausages were being cooked. The evening was rounded off by helping Terry celebrate his 70th birthday.

Friday 16th June 2017

I suffered today after too long on my feet yesterday. It was very painful to walk anywhere. I rested as much as I could but there is always something that needs doing. We went to the Bowling Club in the evening and it was packed, no room to move. I found sitting in cramped seating for the evening quite unpleasant.

Saturday 17th June 2017

I went out early to do the shopping. Once home I did a few things in the ‘van. In the afternoon a few of us went to the village hall for an afternoon tea and entertainment. It was to support the local dancing and singing school. It was good to see the young people performing and we had raffles but the afternoon dragged on and by the time we left we were over the dancing and singing and hordes of kids running about.

Sunday 18th June 2017

Pete Mate and I started to walk to the markets held in Bell Park. BJ saw me walking and insisted that I get in her car for a lift down to the park. She made Pete Mate walk because he needed the exercise. We wandered through the markets and then made our way to Jolt’s for brunch. It was busy but we didn’t have to wait too long to be served. Just as we were leaving I noticed our local police woman, Jaclyn. I went to talk to her about the Big Morning Tea I am organising because one of the police officers is going to give a talk. I guessed it would be Jaclyn and I was right. A lovely girl who totally understands what she needs to say on the day. We walked home and then I rested until happy hour.

Monday 19th June 2017

I spent the day working on the accounts. Happy hour was pleasant.

Tuesday 20th June 2017

Spent the day in bed with a rotten cold.

Wednesday 21st June 2017

Another day feeling rotten so spent it lying down.

Thursday 22nd June 2017

Feeling better today but not well enough to go to CWA. Pete Mate has now gone down with it and has taken to his bed.

Friday 23rd June 2017

Pete Mate spent another day in bed and I did a few chores before sitting outside in the sunshine.

Saturday 24th June 2017

I went early to do the shopping and then once home did very little, still not feeling 100%. PM still in bed. I did however go over to the beauty parlour to have my manicure in the belief we would both be well enough to go to Ferns tomorrow.

Sunday 25th June 2017

Alas Peter and I were not well enough for Ferns and had to give our places away. Then our neighbours also couldn’t go because Larraine was sick. Lorna from the office took me around the park in the golf buggy asking a few people if they wanted to go. We found a couple who really wanted to go but knew the bus was full. Ferns trips are so popular that it is never difficult to fill the buses. Pete Mate and I had a very quiet Sunday. The Ferns people had a really good time.

Monday 26th June 2017

Pete Mate finally emerged from his bed and we went into the village for lunch. We met Roger at Jolt and it was a very pleasant time sitting outside the café watching the world go by. In the case of Roger and Peter watching the cars go by and then having an in depth conversation about them. Not much else happened today.

Tuesday 27th June 2017

Pete Mate and I went for our annual blood tests this morning. The lady who took our blood was very good and she had no trouble getting my blood, which is highly unusual. We'd had to fast so as soon as the tests were over we headed to Jolt for brunch. Once home I felt quite unwell and had a good sleep. This flu/cold seems to do that; one minute you are fine and then the next not so good. In the afternoon Sue and I got together to discuss the tender document she has to submit to obtain the lease for the park.

Wednesday 28th June 2017

Today was star-making day for the One-million-star Project, a silent and peaceful protest against violence. About twenty ladies turned up and between us we made about 100 stars. Judy from the community centre in Yeppoon came along to help and she was amazed by the effort.

Starmakers
Judy, who is left-handed, assisting Julie who is also left-handed and found right-handed instructions confusing.
Sue and Marion provided morning tea for everyone. It was a very good morning. I spent the afternoon working on Sue’s figures.

Thursday 29th June 2017

I went to card-making at the CWA in the morning. I made seven cards as some of them were really easy. In the afternoon a few of us went to the local garden centre for a free concert. We didn’t know what to expect but when I realised it was a string quartet I was delighted. Had a really comfortable chair and I just relaxed and let the music wash over me. Afterwards I felt quite refreshed. At happy hour we met Roger’s daughter, Karen, and son-in-law, Peter. Afterwards we five went to the pub for dinner which was very nice.

Friday 30th June 2017

I went into the village to do some shopping and to see the ladies in the library, they wanted to buy raffle tickets. I spent the afternoon working on the figures for Sue’s tender. In the evening we enjoyed a pleasant meal at the bowling club. The singing was not the best but I think we all enjoyed ourselves.
