Off my crutches at last ~ December 2017
Life doesn’t require that we be the best, only that we try our best.
Friday 1st December 2017
I enjoyed a very relaxing PJ day. In the evening we went up the hill to Tiger and Trish’s for happy hour and then on to the Bowling Club for dinner. All in all a pretty good day.
Saturday 2nd December 2017
We collected Iris and went along to the Big Bonanza Day in Emu Park. It consisted of a few stalls, lots of people selling raffle tickets, loud music, belly dancers and not a lot more. We had a wander and then headed to Jolt for drinks and lunch. Iris and I stood for a while when the raffle draw was happening but had to leave before the end because my leg was aching and Iris was fed up. I was pleased with my knitting effort in the afternoon. Happy hour was pleasant with Stretch, Trish, Kellie and Andrew.
Sunday 3rd December 2017
We enjoyed a lovely relaxing day, not having to be anywhere or do anything special. We managed to get most of the washing dry before the rain and thunder arrived. No happy hour tonight as everywhere was soaking wet.
Monday 4th December 2017
We went into Yeppoon for a doctor’s appointment. We then did some shopping ready for the celebration barbecue tonight. We are celebrating 13 years of being Grey Nomads and have invited a few people to join us. The evening went well, Pete Mate and I did a great job of cooking even though I say it myself. There was plenty for everyone. It was a very enjoyable time with lots of laughter and, of course, wine.
Tuesday 5th December 2017
It was my physio appointment today . . . or should I say, torture session. It is very clear I am being taught to walk properly again after being so long with crook joints. Today I thought the lovely Belinda was going to pull my foot off the way she manipulated it. When we left there we went to the shopping mall to pick up a couple of things and have some lunch at the new café. Once home we had naps and then I finished off Sue’s accounts. It is all done now, no more MYOB.
Wednesday 6th December 2017
I took Iris out for lunch to thank her for all the kindnesses she has given to us this year. It was a very pleasant lunch at the Waterline.
Later I did some finalising of accounts for Sue.
Thursday 7th December 2017
We had to go into Rocky today for Pete Mate to see a specialist about his sinuses. The chap was very pleasant, asked a lot of questions and then stuck a camera up Pete Mate’s nose. He said it was not very pleasant at all. PM was given a script and told to have another scan in four weeks. Afterwards we did some shopping, had some lunch, went to Centrelink/Medicare (always a joy - NOT) and then I had my ears pierced. I have been wanting to do it for a long time and finally got around to it.
Friday 8th December 2017
Our friends Jill and Trish came down to the park to learn how to make Christmas trees. Friend Robyn was the instructor. We enjoyed a really good morning.
Our Christmas Trees.
In the evening we went to the Bowling Club for tea with Sue, Barbara, Jill and Sandy. It was very pleasant until the blond woman decided she should sing!
Saturday 9th December 2017
I felt so good I cleaned and washed all morning. In the afternoon I knitted and began to realise that maybe five hours of housework was not a good idea. I was once again in a lot of pain.
Sunday 10th December 2017
I did not do very much today as the pain in the legs was awful. Pete Mate did the washing today which very much appreciated.
Monday 11th December 2017
We were up and organised early today because (The Full) Moti was coming to change the bearings on the caravan ready for our travelling days. Whist the work was happening I took the car and went to do a couple of things in the village. When Moti had gone and we'd got over the shock of his bill we had to put all our belongings back in the annexe. Afterwards we both had a rest.
Tuesday 12th December 2017
It was my physio appointment today, Belinda is very good at her job and has helped me a lot but today’s session was extremely painful. So much so I felt very woozy. Afterwards we did some shopping and had some lunch.
Wednesday 13th December 2017
It was the CWA lunch today at the Capricornian Tavern, I took friends Jan and Corry. It was very pleasant but the food was mediocre. Afterwards I went up to Sue’s house for a cup of tea and a chat.
Thursday 14th December 2017
I went to CWA for card making and then once more drove out to the Capricornian Tavern for lunch. This time it was the Tai Chi group. We chose our meals from the menu which was better because I just had a salad. Later we enjoyed happy hour up at Sue’s with a nice group of people. I think my tummy said "Enough" because later I was quite unwell and the night was a long one.
Friday 15th December 2017
I enjoyed a wonderful morning at the hairdressers and beauty shop. I left there feeling very relaxed. In the evening we went to the Bowling Club for tea which turned out to be a very pleasant evening.
Saturday 16th December 2017
I went up to Sue’s place for morning tea. We were a group of five ladies and sat out on the deck which was very pleasant indeed.
Afterwards I did some shopping and collected my lotto winnings, all $21 of it.
Sunday 17th December 2017
We had a wander through the markets before heading to Jolt for brunch. The village was buzzing with people and we did a fair amount of people watching. Once home it was rest time for me as I had walked enough. I watched a DVD whilst finishing off a couple of knitting projects.
Monday 18th December 2017
we went to our friends Marion and Charlie’s place for morning tea. We had the grand tour through their brand new house and it was very nice. Lorna and Dougie arrived and we all sat outside on the deck. It was very pleasant.
Later we enjoyed a happy hour at Robyn and Ray’s place which was lovely.
Tuesday 19th December 2017
I had quite an eventful day. It started when I smashed a wine glass, I then trapped my fingers in an overhead cupboard. Later I burnt two fingers on the other hand. Plus, I had a session with the physio, which went well.
Wednesday 20th December 2017
A nice relaxing day at home.
Thursday 21st December 2017
I met with Thelma and a couple of the ladies from CWA for morning tea at the bakery. It was very pleasant. In the evening we went to Tiger and Trish’s for happy hour. Also very pleasant. On the way home we picked up pizza for dinner.
Friday 22nd December 2017
A day of cleaning, washing and experimenting with a new recipe. The recipe was for cheese balls, let’s just say they didn’t quite turn out the way they should. Even so they were well received at happy hour.
Saturday 23rd December 2017
A day pretty much like yesterday except today’s experiment was baked Camembert. That went very well and I will be doing it again.
Sunday 24th December 2017
I went to the shops early to avoid the rush, only trouble was everyone else had the same idea. Once home I did some preparation for tonight and tomorrow and then relaxed. Happy hour was a crazy hat competition and Pete Mate and I wore our funny Christmas shirts and hats I had sourced. It was a poor turnout and only one other lady had a hat so we were three were joint winners.
Monday 25th December 2017
A nice relaxed Christmas Day with good food, wine and chocolates.
Tuesday 26th December 2017
Another relaxing day. We went over to happy hour in our funny shirts only to find out the funny shirt competition is tomorrow night.
Wednesday 27th December 2017
We visited our friends Jill and Sandy which was very pleasant.
We then went into Yeppoon for a doctor’s visit. Just a check-up.
Happy hour was funny shirt time and some of the shirts were really funny. From the laughter a good time was had by all.
Thursday 28th December 2017
I met some friends for morning tea at Jolt. It was very pleasant and I enjoyed it. Not much else happened.
Friday 29th December 2017
Again, not much happened here today, just normal hobbies.
Saturday 30th December 2017
We went into Yeppoon to do some shopping and some major browsing. All of which was very tiring.
Sunday 31st December 2017
We enjoyed a lovely lunch at the Waterline Restaurant. The food was yummy and the breeze was heaven.
Later the happy hour was a New Year’s Eve celebration. It was a good night, we enjoyed it.
So goodbye from 2017 with all its drama over Trump, same-sex marriage and terror attacks. See you in 2018.
