Greg and Bev are planning to visit ~ January 2018
Find a special little something in every day.
Monday 1st January 2018
A Happy New Year to all. Today is also Pete Mate’s birthday and I arranged a barbecue with friends to celebrate the day. It was a really good evening and a good time was had by all. Especially the birthday boy.
Tuesday 2nd January 2018
A day of relaxation after a hectic few days.
Wednesday 3rd January 2018
Pete Mate and I went into Rocky for medical appointments, not the start to the new year we wanted. Afterwards we visited Mitsubishi to see if we could get a new sun roof. Ours is disintegrating. No such luck, they don’t make them as spares. Then we went shopping for my Christmas present of gold earrings. Later we went to happy hour, very small number of people again.
Thursday 4th January 2018
I met some friends for morning tea at Brew café this week. It was very pleasant, good company with lots of laughs.
Friday 5th January 2018
A day of hobbies and not much else.
Saturday 6th January 2018
Pretty much the same as yesterday.
Sunday 7th January 2018
And again today.
Monday 8th January 2018
We went into Yeppoon to do some shopping and to have Billy washed. Alas the car wash is still broken. We had lunch and did the shopping then returned home in time for happy hour.
Tuesday 9th January 2018
Busy, busy getting ready for our guests. Plus, I went over to see Sue to sort out some paperwork.
Wednesday 10th January 2018
We collected friends Bev and Greg from the airport. First stop was Dan Murphy’s, of course. Then we went for some lunch. We then headed for home with a little diversion to look at our new house. Yes, people we have decided to put down roots and as we love Emu Park we decided to stay.
We enjoyed a lovely happy hour followed by a barbecue, then a few nightcaps.
Thursday 11th January 2018
We took Greg and Bev to the Waterline restaurant for lunch. It was a lovely time with good food, wine and excellent company.
Friday 12th January 2018
We had an early start as we had to be at the Marina for 8.00am to go out for the day on Grace II. We enjoyed a lovely relaxing day just sailing around the islands. Greg and Bev did some snorkelling and saw some lovely coloured fish. Later we took them to the Bowling Club for dinner. It was a very pleasant evening sitting outside – perfect temperatures and we were away from the loud music.
Saturday 13th January 2018
We took Greg and Bev into Yeppoon for breakfast and to browse televisions. Greg knows a fair amount about televisions so was able to advise us which ones were the best to get. We enjoyed another great happy hour followed by dinner I cooked at the caravan which went well despite the microwave conking out.
Sunday 14th January 2018
I organised the mini bus to take 13 of us to Ferns for lunch. As per usual it was a great day with Marto singing and Genevieve looking after us. The food was yummy, the wine very good and the company excellent.
Monday 15th January 2018
Sad day today, we have to say goodbye to Greg and Bev. After we saw them safely on to the plane we went in search of a new microwave. We bought a very cheap one because we will not be in the carvan much longer.
Tuesday 16th January 2018
I went up to Jill’s in the morning to show her the jewellery I have made as she and Tricia want to learn how to do it.
Wednesday 17th January 2018
We went into Yeppoon for Peter’s podiatrist appointment. Not much else happened.
Thursday 18th January 2018
I met some friends for morning tea at a new café. It was very pleasant and the company was good.
Friday 19th January 2018
I spent the morning at the hairdresser's and beauty shop. Very relaxing and I was pleased with the results.
We went to the Bowling Club for dinner. Sue and Barbara were there and Kellie, Andrew and Shawn joined us. We sat outside again away from the loud music.
Saturday 20th January 2018
I did the shopping early before it was busy and too hot. In the afternoon we went to look at the house. Some more work has been done on it since we last saw it.
Sunday 21st January 2018
We had a walk through the markets on our way to Jolt for brunch. It was very pleasant and the first time I had walked in to the village and back with two new knees.
Monday 22nd January 2018
We drove into Rocky again – this time for Peter’s appointment with the ENT Specialist. The doctor spoke very fast and it was hard to take everything in. He wants to operate on Pete Mate’s sinuses. After we left there we did a bit of shopping and had some lunch. We saw Genevieve and Marto from the Ferns and congratulated them on winning the top restaurant award in a poll run by the local newspaper.
Tuesday 23rd January 2018
Nothing much happened here today. Just hobbies and reading.
Wednesday 24th January 2018
I had a doctor’s appointment in the morning. Afterwards we called in at the house and were pleased to see the roof is now on. We had a chat with Tony the builder about a couple of things, all good.
We then went and had some lunch at the café near the Post Office. Very nice too.
Thursday 25th January 2018
It was CWA this morning, first day back after the Christmas break. It was nice to see the familiar faces. I made four cards which I was happy with.
Friday 26th January 2018 ~ Australia Day
We walked into the village to Jolt for brunch. It was really busy and the queue was to the door. The service was pretty good considering the number of people in there. We enjoyed the Aussie special breakfast which was huge. We could have had one between us.
Later in the day we had a celebration happy hour followed by a sausage sizzle. A few of us made salads and desserts so as per usual we all ate too much. We had a thong trowing competition, I am rubbish at it. The little kids did better than I did.
Saturday 27th January 2018
I did my early morning shop. I did a few chores and then read for the rest of the day.
Sunday 28th January 2018
I had a pyjama day today. I haven’t had one for a long time. I did some cross stitch and watched a DVD. I got dressed for happy hour which was very pleasant.
Monday 29th January 2018
A day of many tasks. Computer work, washing and knitting, plus I had another go at my cross stitch. I don’t think it is going to be my latest hobby.
Tuesday 30th January 2018
We both had doctor’s appointments today. I was given another course of antibiotics and a decision was made by Pete Mate not to go ahead with his sinus operation. Afterwards we enjoyed a cuppa at Jolt. Later it was back home to our hobbies and nanny naps.
Wednesday 31st January 2018
I had a cuppa with Iris in the morning and did my hobbies in the afternoon. And so ended January 2018.
